Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Introduction
Quaruty LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Hikari, an iOS app for daily affirmations, reflection, and gentle self-growth. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using Hikari, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
Information you provide. This may include your first name (if you choose to share it during onboarding), your onboarding answers, the affirmations you favorite or bookmark, the topics you follow, your reminder schedule, and appearance choices such as themes, backgrounds, and app icon.
Information stored on your device. Your name, favorites, bookmarks, reading history, streaks, reminders, and preferences are stored locally on your iPhone and, where needed for widgets and Siri shortcuts, in a shared container on the same device. We do not upload this content to our servers.
Usage and analytics data. We collect usage events — such as screens viewed, features used, onboarding completion, and subscription-related events — to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Our analytics provider also derives an approximate location (typically country or city) from the IP address of the request.
Onboarding answers. Some of the answers you give during onboarding — such as age range, gender, relationship and employment status, prior experience with affirmations, and the goals you pick — are included in analytics so we can understand who Hikari is helping. Answers describing your mental state — your mood, how often you experience negative thoughts, what you do for your mental wellbeing, and the areas you want to work on — stay on your device and are used only to personalize the affirmations you see.
Device and app identifiers. We generate and store an identifier in your device's secure keychain. It is not tied to your name or email, and we use it to keep your usage, subscription status, and installation consistent across the services listed below. If you allow tracking (see below), your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may also be used to measure advertising.
Purchase information. If you subscribe to Hikari Plus, payment is processed by Apple. We receive subscription status through our subscription provider (RevenueCat) but do not receive your full payment card details.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and personalize the Hikari experience
- Deliver daily affirmations, widgets, and notifications you request
- Manage Hikari Plus subscriptions and restore purchases
- Understand app usage and improve features, stability, and design
- Respond to support requests you send us
We do not sell your personal information.
Advertising, attribution, and tracking
We advertise Hikari on other platforms, and we measure whether that advertising works. To do this we use AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution provider, which records that an install or event happened and which campaign it came from.
Your choice. On first launch, iOS asks whether Hikari may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you allow it, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be shared with our attribution provider and advertising partners to measure campaigns. If you decline, measurement falls back to privacy-preserving methods such as Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports results without identifying you.
Hikari works exactly the same either way — no feature is withheld based on your answer. You can change your decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Your favorites, bookmarks, reading history, and the mental-state answers described above are never used for advertising and are never shared with advertising partners.
Please note. Declining tracking turns off cross-app advertising measurement. It does not turn off the product analytics described above, which we use to operate and improve the app regardless of your answer.
If you are a California resident: sharing an advertising identifier with attribution and advertising partners may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. Declining the tracking request, or turning tracking off later in iOS Settings, opts you out of that sharing. We do not sell personal information.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — ask what personal information we hold about you and how we use it
- Correction — have inaccurate information corrected
- Deletion — ask us to delete your personal information
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we process your information
- Portability — receive the information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and have it transmitted to another controller where technically feasible
- Objection — object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including our use of analytics
- Withdrawing consent — withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting processing already carried out
To exercise any applicable privacy rights, contact us at [email protected]. We do not charge for this, and we will respond within the time limits that apply to us — within one month if you are in the EEA or the UK.
Complaints. If you are in the EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence, place of work, or where the issue occurred — the list is published by the European Data Protection Board. In the UK, that authority is the Information Commissioner's Office. You may complain without contacting us first — though we would rather hear from you and put things right.
Third-party services
We use trusted third-party services to operate Hikari:
- PostHog — product analytics to help us understand how the app is used.
- RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management for Hikari Plus.
- AppsFlyer — mobile attribution and marketing measurement, so we can see which campaigns bring people to Hikari.
- Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases, SKAdNetwork ad measurement, and the system features Hikari plugs into, such as notifications, widgets, and Siri shortcuts. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; their content is not sent through our servers.
These providers process data according to their own privacy policies and only as necessary to provide their services.
This website and cookies
Beyond the app, https://myhikari.app can use Google Analytics to measure traffic — pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device and browser information. Google Analytics sets cookies or similar identifiers in your browser for this purpose.
We ask first. Analytics is off by default. On your first visit we show a banner asking whether you consent, and no analytics cookies or scripts are loaded until you accept. Cookies strictly necessary to serve the site are the only thing that works without consent, and we set none for tracking.
Changing your mind. Your choice is stored locally in your browser. You can change or withdraw it at any time with the Cookie settingslink at the bottom of every page — declining also deletes the analytics cookies already set. You can additionally install Google's opt-out browser add-on. See also the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not use advertising cookies on this website, and nothing you do here is linked to your in-app identifier.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information on the following bases: to perform our contract with you (providing the app and managing Hikari Plus), our legitimate interests (keeping the app secure, and understanding how it is used so we can improve it), and your consent (advertising measurement based on your device's advertising identifier, which we only carry out if you allow tracking, and analytics cookies on this website, which we only set if you accept them in the cookie banner). You can withdraw the tracking consent at any time in iOS Settings, and the cookie consent through the Cookie settings link in the site footer.
Security
The identifier we generate is kept in your device's secure keychain, and data sent to our providers travels over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect in the first place.
International data transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside your country of residence. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used to protect personal information during international transfers.
Data retention
Most content you create in the app is stored locally on your device unless otherwise indicated.
Analytics and attribution data may be retained for a limited period consistent with our providers' policies.
You may delete the app at any time to remove locally stored data from your device. Deleting the app does not by itself erase events already recorded by our analytics and attribution providers — email us if you want those deleted too.
Your choices
You can disable push notifications in iOS Settings or within the app. You can manage your Hikari Plus subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.
You can allow or deny app tracking at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, and you can limit ad personalization system-wide in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising.
Deleting the app removes the data stored locally on your device. To request deletion of analytics or attribution data associated with your identifier, email us — include the identifier shown in Hikari under Settings so we can locate it.
For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at [email protected].
Children's privacy
Hikari is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
